Pre-owned (secondhand) vehicles only.
- Vehicle must be a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) or Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) noted on the HOV Eligibility list at the time of purchase *. See a list of qualified plug-in cars here.
- Vehicle can be bought or rented.
- Vehicle must stay registered to the applicant in California for a minimum of 20 months.
- Vehicle should be currently registered to the candidate's PG&E domestic service address.
- If approved, the rebate check will be sent by mail to the address noted on the car's registration card.

  • Hydrogen Fuel Cell automobiles and Compressed Gas automobiles are not eligible.

    Applicant Eligibility

    - Application must be effectively submitted within 180 days of the date of EV purchase or lease.
    - Applicant should be an active PG&E domestic electrical consumer. PG&E gas-only property clients who receive electrical service from a town are disqualified for the refund. The service account does not need to remain in the applicant's name to apply.
    - Each PG&E customer and each domestic family might receive just one PG&E Pre-Owned EV Rebate per eligible automobile

    REBATE PLUS OPTION

    Customers who fulfill the PG&E Pre-Owned EV Rebate program requirements and are income-qualified might be eligible for the Rebate Plus option of $4,000.

    - Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
    - Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).
    To certify, the applicant's name should match that of the individual registered in the qualified public assistance program and the proof of enrollment must be dated within 12 months of the application submission date. Applicants noted as a based on their evidence of public support documentation are not qualified for the Rebate Plus option. If a candidate is under the age of 18, additional documents will be asked for to confirm dependency status.

    * Applicants with applications and supporting documents submitted on or after June 13, 2023 might get approved for Rebate Plus by providing their Drive Clean in the San Joaquin Replace Program approval letter that confirms their confirmed family earnings is 80% or less of the Area Median Income (AMI) for the candidate's county.
